Damn, I don't even know what the words are called, the little ones in sentence structure, the "the" "a" "are" and "individualistically", the little ones are what you get wrong. I barely heard of the place before meeting you, and the only way I can find out anything is by research. I spent hours searching, cutting, and pasting things I thought of as appropriate for that story before starting to write. And of course it was from many points of view. Reading it over this morning I found a lot of small mistakes in wording that I should have caught last night. It was late though, after midnight for me when I posted it and I didn't find them. Every mother in law is like that.That's pretty real, although I don't think you got the way of thinking of the place and times. That mother was quite bossy. It was fun imagining Hasan Aga the cruel husband with such a mother, as if he were some boy. Yeah, especially it was funny that you made that tragic story humorous. Then,the way she expressed her not liking her daughter in law. I think Turks thought in similar way about Serbs, only not in luring from caves terms, bribing them with nick-nacks. I don't think Turks treated Serbs as the European settlers treated the Indian natives in the US.But, it was fun. ANd yes, you should change some names. Or, why would I be mad? I did a lot of research, not knowing anything of the time and place. I figured the reference to him fighting in that battle as a young man would date it. But you did have me worried. No, I think that I've never heard of names Kaltrina, or Agon, at least not as Serbian names. The Turkish are familiar. Remember though the poem was written later, in the 15th or 16th century, it was about the late 13 or 14 hundreds. Right? So that would be when the action occurred. Hassan was supposed to have, accordingly, lived soon after the battle. If, as I conjectured, it was in his youth, that would make it the early 14 hundreds, not the 16 or 17 hundreds. *Quote:* By the way, it is a very popular poem, a must read at elementary school, and thousands of reviews have been written on it. First, it happens in Bosnia, in the part near what's today Mostar. It was islamized much after the Kosovo Battle.That battle was crucial for Ottomans penetrating Europe. Then, her brother was a converted Serb. Converting and conquering all of the Balkan states territories took time. This couldn't happen before 16th century. Besides, some of the persons mentioned really existed. It is possible that Hasan Aga was a converted Serb. Some names mentioned in the poem suggest that. You can know by their surname whether they are Muslim or Orthodox Serbs, even today. If their name is Turkish, and surname ends in -ic, they are Muslims. If their name is Serbian, they are Orthodox Serbs. Muslims later in history simply denied any nationality, just calimed to be Muslims. During Tito, the term "Muslim" didn't refer to religion, but to nationality. Yeah, your interpretation is very "American", he, he. Like in American movies, there always must be a happy ending.And logical explanation for all human behaviour. Hey, Charlie, I don't teach literature. but, as some kids wanted me to tell them stories, I'd be glad to read them yours. There are serious heated disputes in scientific circles on that issue and books are written. Well, Charlie, if you want to be well paid for writing, come here and start investigating. Then write a book politicians would edit. You don't need to be a historian, being an American is enough, meaning you are neutral,esp,for those whom you favour in writing. coming from a country that rules the world also means something.
